What is Pension Risk Transfer (PRT)?

Pension risk transfer, also known as pension de-risking, is a strategic solution to transfer the responsibility to make future benefit payments to an insurer through the purchase of a group annuity contract. This allows the pension plan sponsor to protect and secure the retirement benefits of participants while mitigating financial risks.
