Dr. Lauren Acton, Chief Medical Officer for Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPP South Africa, joined the company in April 2024. Her key responsibilities include collaboration with cross-functional teams (globally and locally) to deliver insurance medicine insights and support, reinsurance products and solutions, and guidance to reinsurance partners. These span underwriting, claims, pricing, and business development.
Lauren¡¯s role focuses on strategic initiatives, thought leadership, and client engagement. She represents Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPP on the Association for Savings and Investment SA¡¯s Medical and Underwriting Standing Committee in South Africa.
She completed her medical degree at the University of Pretoria in 2006, then furthered her studies with a masters in bioethics at the University of Stellenbosch in 2013.
Lauren has experience in both public and private healthcare and worked as a general practitioner prior to entering the insurance industry in 2016. Subsequently, she has worked for global reinsurers and a local primary insurer with experience across the value chain of life insurance.
